Sidestep the limelight of Park City, Utah just slightly and head for Deer Valley, where a bit more relaxed atmosphere does not mean any less spectacular skiing or resort accommodations. Deer Valley is noted as having three ski resorts - Snow Park Village, Silver Lake Village and Empire Pass. All three areas sport a great selection of rental homes, condos, town-homes and villas. A Deer Valley rental home is an ideal choice for your luxury ski vacation. Privacy, space, and a crackling fire plus some fancy hot chocolate that you don't have to share with anyone else are just some of the perks of a vacation rental home versus a hotel room. Just about any location will keep you close everything you need in Deer Valley as well as Park City, while amenities can run the gamut from simple and clean to downright luxurious.
For your in-season vacation at Deer Valley, there are countless activities in which to participate: all manners of skiing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, ice skating, shopping, strolling through art galleries, eating great food, hanging out and looking cool in Park City, or enjoying some hot drink you have never heard of. One thing you will not see here: snowboarding. It is prohibited, so if you need to get your snowboarding fix, head over to Park City and enjoy. Deer Valley, with Bald Eagle Mountain, Flagstaff Mountain and Empire Mountain, maintains skiing events only in the winter. Many events of the 2002 Winter Olympics were held on Bald Eagle Mountain, but beginners will appreciate it also. Get off the mountain and into one of the highly rated eateries in Deer Valley. Nothing beats a great meal to take away the sting of a tumble down Bald Eagle Mountain. Or that patch of ice you didn't notice in front of the designer sunglasses shop.
If you are a real beginner, Deer Valley offers great ski instruction by professionals to keep you from looking like a total fool, at least on the mountains. During the off season, hit the mountains on a bike or on foot instead of skis. Play some golf, go hot air ballooning or try your hand at fresh water fishing. Enjoy the beauty of the densely green and gloriously rugged terrain of this Rocky Mountain area. There are loads of art, crafts jewelry and antique shops in which to browse and buy treasures. You must at least peruse the designer ski clothing shops to see who is buying what. In January, do some star gazing in Park City during the Sundance Film Festival, but don't plan on getting into any of the movie showings. It takes a good year of pre-planning to gain access to any of the actual theaters. But keep your camera handy, you never know when Robert Redford or a starving starlet will wander by. Plenty of music, art and good times are all around you and your Deer Valley vacation rental home. Take advantage of everything you can.
